Release Notes
Additional Knowledge Sources in Harvey for Word
Harvey for Word now supports the same Knowledge Sources available in the main app so you can bring firm-specific and jurisdictional research directly into your document workflow.
What's New
Harvey for Word now supports the full suite of knowledge sources available in the main Harvey app — including legal research databases and domain-specific sources — directly within the Word add-in.

This means you can attach sources, like Ireland Tax, Ireland (Legal), UK Case Law, and other jurisdiction or practice-specific databases, to your queries without leaving Word.
Why It Matters
Rather than switching to our main app to access legal research sources, now you can query Harvey with the same depth of knowledge directly in your document — keeping your research and drafting in one place.
How to Use
- From Word, open the Harvey for Word add-in.
- Write a new query or open an existing thread.
- Select the plus (+) in the prompt text box.
- Select the knowledge sources you want to include.
- Select the arrow (→) to send your query.
Harvey will retrieve and synthesize information from the selected sources and return a cited response within your document context.
Notes and Limitations
- LexisNexis®, review tables, and Playbooks are not currently supported in the Word add-in.
- Knowledge source availability in Word mirrors your organization’s existing configuration in the main app. No additional setup is required if sources are already enabled.
- If a knowledge source is grayed out, your workspace may not have it enabled. Please contact your Harvey admin to enable it.
FAQs
Q: The names of some knowledge sources look different from what I'm used to — is that expected?
Yes. Some sources have similar names but work differently. For example, a general legal database and a tax-specific one for the same jurisdiction may appear side-by-side. If you're not sure which source to use, hover over its name to see a description, or contact your Harvey admin for guidance.
Q: Will I be able to use multiple Knowledge Sources at once?
Yes. With multi–Knowledge Source referencing, you’ll be able to draw on information from several sources in a single query or response.
Q: What Knowledge Sources are currently available in Harvey for Word?
We've brought over 50 data sources from the main Harvey app into the add-in; we're adding more on an ongoing basis, so the library will keep growing over time.
