Independent Review Tables
To increase flexibility and support structured reviews across any files, you can now create review tables in Assistant using files outside of vaults.
What's New
To increase flexibility and support structured reviews across any files, you can now create review tables in Assistant using file uploads outside of a vault.
Why It Matters
Previously, review tables could only be created with files in a vault, which added extra steps and blocked some review workflows. This update removes that limitation, allowing you to create review tables with files outside a vault. You can now start reviews immediately with the documents you have, reducing friction and keeping work moving.
How to Use
- In Assistant, click create from the side bar menu or create review table from the quick-start button above the prompt text box.
- Select upload files to import documents outside of a vault, or add from vault.
- Create columns and start using your review table.
- [Optional] Move or share your table with others. Learn more in Moving and Sharing Review Tables.
Notes and Limitations
At this time, Harvey does not support:
- iManage files
- Mixing file sources (e.g. files from vault A, vault B, and uploaded from computer). Files must be uploaded from a single location.
FAQs
Q: What workspace sharing settings are required to share review tables?
Similar to Assistant queries, you need:
- Query sharing AND Assistant workspace sharing:
- To share reviews outside of vaults to individuals/user groups
- To share reviews outside of vaults to entire workspaces
- Vault sharing AND Vault workspace sharing:
- To share reviews within vaults to individuals/user groups
- To share reviews within vaults to entire workspaces
Q: From Assistant, when I create a review table, where does my review table live?
If it’s created using uploaded files, it will go into your private history. If it’s created using vault files, it will go into that specific vault.
Q: Where do my files live if I upload them directly and create a review table?
They will live within the table query, similar to how uploaded files in an Assistant query live in the query itself. They are not automatically added to a vault.
Q: How are client matters preserved for the review table?
For review tables created via uploaded files, the client matter will inherit what's set from the Assistant prompt text box. For review tables created via vault, they will inherit the vault's client matter (if already set). For any review table, you can adjust the client matter from your History tab by clicking on the three dot menu and Edit CM# or Remove CM#.
Q: From Assistant, when I create a review table, what retention does my review table query follow?
When outside of a vault, these queries should follow either 48 hours or workspace retention, whichever has the greater value. Review table queries exist longer than Assistant queries because they take more time to delete.
When inside of a vault, these queries should follow vault retention.
Q: Can I intermix files from different locations in my review table?
No. Review tables can only use one source at a time. This means all files in a review table must come from the same location.
- If you start a review table with files uploaded from your computer, the entire table is treated as a desktop-upload table. You cannot add vault files to it later.
- Moving those uploaded files into a vault after creating the table does not change the table’s source. It remains tied to desktop uploads.
- To include files from vault, you must ensure all files you want to use are stored in the same vault first. Then create a new review table from that vault.
- Once you create a review table from a vault, you may only add additional files from that same vault. Files uploaded directly from your desktop cannot be added.
In short: Review tables cannot mix sources. Decide whether your table will use desktop uploads or a single vault, and keep all files in that one location.
Q: What is the maximum number of files I can upload at a time to a review table from my computer?
It depends on the source of the files. If the files come from your computer, the maximum number of files you can have in your review table is 50. If the files come from your vault, the maximum number of files you can have in your review table is 10k.
Q: Do I need to have access to vault to get access to independent review tables?
Yes, you need to have the vault perm.
