Improve Workflows Automatically
Let Harvey analyze your workflow design and recommend improvements that enhance performance, clarity, and efficiency.
What's New
Improve workflow is a new one-click option in Workflow Builder that reviews your entire workflow and automatically improves it using Harvey’s best practices.

Why It Matters
Improve Workflow gives you a faster path to higher-quality workflows. With this update, you can automatically:
- Improve workflow speed and performance
- Simplify complex logic and block structures
- Strengthen prompt clarity and consistency
- Reduce troubleshooting time during workflow creation
How to Use
- Open an existing workflow in Workflow Builder.
- Review your blocks, branching, and prompts to confirm everything you want analyzed is included.
- Select Improve workflow at the top of the builder.
- Harvey evaluates your design and automatically updates your workflow accordingly.
- You can review changes made in the pop-up message in the bottom right.
Relationship to Upcoming Features
Improve Workflows is the first step toward giving you more flexible, in-product editing capabilities. A later release, Words to Edit, will allow you to refine workflows even further using natural language prompts.
Tips for Success
- Start with a complete design. Optimization works best when your workflow contains all key steps, even if they’re not final.
- Keep prompts focused. Clear, concise instructions help Harvey identify unnecessary complexity.
- Iterate. You can run optimization multiple times as you refine your build.
- Test after applying changes. Run sample inputs to confirm performance and results meet expectations.
FAQs
Q: Does selecting Improve workflow automatically change my workflow?
Yes, Harvey will automatically apply improvements to optimize your workflow.
Q: Can I undo or decline changes?
You can revert changes by opening History and restoring a previous version of the workflow. At this time, you can’t review or accept/reject individual edits produced during optimization.
Q: Will optimization change workflow outputs?
It may. Improvements to prompts or structure can increase clarity, performance, and consistency.
Q: How is this different from Improve prompt (Magic Prompt)?
Magic Prompt refines text inputs. Improve Workflow analyzes and improves the structure and components of an entire workflow. Similar to Magic Prompt, Improve Workflow uses Harvey’s intelligence to understand and refine manual workflow builds — helping save valuable time in building workflows.
