Playbooks Revamp: Agentic Review
Playbook Review now features concept-driven analysis, lighter redlining, template-based playbook creation, and improved upload and NDA extraction.

What’s New
Playbooks now use agents to automatically review contracts against a company or firm’s playbook and generate high-quality markup suggestions, enabling faster, more consistent contract review directly in Word.
This release delivers significant upgrades to both Playbook Review and Playbook Creation, including more precise issue spotting, clearer reasoning, commercially aligned redlines, and a faster path from playbook setup to first review.
New Playbook Review Updates
- Concept-driven review: Harvey evaluates clauses based on meaning, not only exact wording
- Lighter-touch redlining: Minimal, surgical edits to align with firm or company positions
- Full-document context awareness: Suggestions account for how clauses interact across the agreement and be inserted in the correct places
- Customization: Harvey can tailor each review based on the user’s party, whose paper it is, and additional negotiation context, resulting in highly relevant redline suggestions
- Counterparty-ready comments: Harvey generates persuasive comments for every suggestion instead of only explaining the change
- Collaborate with Harvey: During a playbook review, ask Harvey to update suggestions and comments based on your feedback or preferences

- Instant playbook creation: Generate a structured playbook in seconds using Harvey templates for NDAs, MDAs, and commercial contracts.
- Improved playbook conversion: Higher quality extraction from uploaded table-based playbooks that preserve your original rule language

Playbook Creation Updates in Harvey
On the creation side, we've improved how playbooks are built and converted to get teams to their first review faster. Teams without a playbook can generate one in seconds using Harvey-built templates for NDAs, MDAs, and commercial contracts, then refine it with their own preferences and positions. Teams with existing playbooks benefit from significantly improved uploads that extract the exact language from your materials.
The result: faster playbook setup, cleaner drafts, stronger reasoning, and reviews that reflect how your team actually negotiates.
